Gloria Vanderbilt, Jeans Queen

She was an author, an artist, a swan and a mythic figure. But her most indelible legacy may be what she did for denim.

What do you think?

  1. One wonders if Ms. Vanderbilt hadn’t been so wealthy and socially influential, if she would have been so successful. While I agree that her ability to tap into the jeans “zeitgeist” of the 1970s proves she could be a savvy businesswoman, or at least one who could capitalize on good ideas, her lasting “contribution” to the fashion world is questionable. More like a one-hit wonder.
